Strongers . left this review about Lord Protector

The Lord Protector is a huge Craft Union estate boozer with a public bar at the front and a lounge at the rear, I stuck my head around the corner into the lounge to see it empty, so I decided to remain in the bar area where some young locals were playing on the two pool tables and dartboard up the left, they were vocal but well behaved, so maybe some of their parents were at the bar. There’s raised seating in the front right corner where I sat at a high table in the window where I could see many of the televisions throughout that were showing Champions League football via TNT Sports. I also had a good view of the local Nisa, and everyone entering and exiting the minimart had a good view of me, I felt a like a trophy that the pub had put in the window for people to gawp at. An L-shaped serving counter sits behind the raised seating in the right rear corner where it supports standard keg, and I think there were also a couple of hand pumps drawing mainstream cask. This pub served its purpose as somewhere to watch the football, but I wouldn’t visit at any other time. Also, the service was a bit hit and miss with one of the staff deciding to martyr herself by sitting on the floor to address the leaking glass wash machine while the other went missing for long periods. This pub is well off the main drag, so I imagine there’s next to no passing trade making it a local pub for local people.

Basic estate pub with no real ale and standard kegs. Not worth a revisit.
