A gentrified interior which was pleasantly pleasing and to Mrs Ale's liking. A large brass pineapple was placed at the front corner of the bar for some reason and the staff told us it has no apparent connection with the pub or the pub's history, it was chosen because they liked it. The main feature in here for me was the low slung original timber bar counter. I found that this pub was mostly food led, the meals going out from the kitchen looked quite good.
Four handpumps on the bar, with three in use serving Doombar, Rev James and Stanley brewed by Laine Brewery. I went for the Laine Brewery beer which was fine and the prices were good too.

The Stanley is a corner pub that is situated on the busy magdalen road.
Once inside there was a large L shaped room that was bare boarded and had wood tables with chairs, there was a pool table to the left and the rear right area was up one step, there was decent music being played at a fairly loud volume.
There were four pumps on the bar with three unclipped this left Woodforde's Wherry as the only choice, the young barmaid pulled this off then said she thought it might be a bit young, she then tried a bit and said it was a bit to young to be served, the only other bitter option was John Smiths smooth crap which i did'nt fancy trying,so i then looked at the half of Wherry on the bar which was clear and said i would have that, the barmaid said i could have it but she would not charge me for the drink,as for the drink she was right about it being not quite ready but this was better that drinking John Smiths smooth crap.
The pub was fairly busy with a mixed bunch of locals and it seemed a friendly enough pub to have a few drinks in.
