We thought we would try this pub again as we did not stop for a drink the last time we were there. (My previous review shows today’s date because I just corrected a typo I noticed. I cannot remember how long ago our other visit was.) This time we were earlier in the day, and were the only customers. There are two main areas, one of which has the bar in it, and there are separate rooms at either end of the building. As before, all tables were laid for eating, although when we asked the barmaid where we could sit, we were told anywhere. It has the atmosphere of a hotel dining room rather than a pub. Courage Best, Adnams Explorer, Woodforde’s Wherry, Timothy Taylor Landlord and Adnams Bitter were available. At £4.75 for a pint of Courage Best and a small diet Coke the prices are about average for the area. It is still not a place we felt comfortable drinking in, and it is normally busy with people eating, so I doubt we will visit again.

This is an example of an establishment that just qualifies to be a pub. There is a bar with Woodforde Wherry and five premium ales available, but there does not appear to be anywhere to sit and drink it. All of the tables, (in the part we saw,) were laid for eating, with table mats, napkins, cruets, cutlery and wine glasses. I suppose you could sit at one of them, but I do not think you would be popular, and I would feel awkward doing so. We visited at about six in the evening in the middle of the week, and it was very busy, so it is a popular place to eat, but I review these places as pubs, hence my rating. We may try again to see if there is a part we missed.
