GBG’23 listed so I was looking forward to this one. Sadly it was all wrong. Firstly, the door didn't open; got in eventually after a shoulder barge. Secondly, the interior probably used to be quite a nice place but some simpleton has glooped two-tone mushy pea paint everywhere. Thirdly, the cask; four on, Twisted Oak Fallen Tree (murky - taken back but not off). Parkway King (poor, far too old NBSS 1.5), St Austell and Butcombe. Fourthly, an indolent barman. It's awful - the only redeeming feature was the rear garden. One of the worst GBG pubs I’ve done. No wonder the gimp lives round here if this is the standard. 3.5

A traditional pub located in the centre of Yatton, it consists of two rooms internally and is a slightly odd mix of old and new – I wasn’t sure that the flagstones on the floor really went with the recessed down lighters in the ceiling, for example.

The main bar runs along the front of the pub and has a mixture of white plasterwork and exposed stone on the walls. Seating was mostly fitted wooden benches and small bar stools, both with red cushions as well as an old leather sofa. A small fire-place was in one corner, although all it had in it at this time of year was a bunch of flowers. A TV screen mounted up above it was showing the Olympics. A smaller room at the rear was perhaps a little plusher with carpet on the floor and a couple more sofas arranged at right angles, another larger fire-place and a smaller bar counter. It looks as though food is offered, although we did not see any menus, or anyone eating other than the landlord.

Beers on tap were Butcombe and Tribute, whilst a third pump appeared unused. Ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Thatcher’s Dry.
