The main problem with this pub is getting in, with the entrance right round the back. Once in, you find one long room tapering down to a point, with the blunt end featuring velour banquettes and numerous prints on the walls, while the pointy end is plainer with a pool table. The bar on the side has 8 or 9 hand pumps with an excellent selection of local ales (on this visit including a superb Mr Winters Fusioneer Mild) and one or two from further afield. Add in a good chat with the locals and you have a very nice pub. Check the opening hours though.
