Old Boots left this review about The Townhouse Pub
A very elegant Georgian building entered up some stairs into a space with a pool table then venturing further you come to a bar, the counter to your right. It’s a plain room with wine label wallpaper and exposed brick, odd bits in grey and fenced off bits possibly a DJ booth. It has a screen and machine as well as niche piped music. A beer garden is at the back. The pub appears to be the place for the more eccentric members of Ely society to congregate. The counter has three hand pumps at one end but none were in use, two with reversed clips, otherwise two T-Bars of the usual mix of Guinness, cider and lager. I ordered a half of Stella but was told it was only 5p cheaper than a pint so I bought a pint and left half.

Entering this old townhouse up a set of steps, you arrive into what would presumably have been the house's front room, which contains plenty of seating. I didn't notice the pool table mentioned in the previous review, but my first aim was to find the bar! Continuing through this room and turning right takes you into a larger room which contains the bar. Beyond that is a conservatory, a garden and a smoking area.
All customers were sat in the bar area during my visit. This was fine with only 4 or 5 customers present, but just 4 high tables with stools, people would soon be forced to retreat to the conservatory or the front room when crowds arrive. A DJ booth in one corner of the bar suggests that it can get crowded at weekends.
3 East Anglian real ales were on - Woodforde's Nelson's & Volt & Mauldon's Jester. I had the latter, which I quite enjoyed whilst lingering a while to wait for more Ely pubs to open. Real cider has been discontinued. A selection of traditional pub games were available at one side of the bar.

My first impressions were that the outside did look like a hotel. Once through the doors, to our immediate left was a pool room. Then on into a rear large room and bar. A small conservatory led you out onto a small patio area.
Five handpumps on the bar, four of which were ales and one cider, named Pickled Pig Cider. Our service was quick and formal, so I went for the Mauldons Suffolk Pride which was good, whilst Mrs A went for the Buntingford Brewery Twitchell. We got into conversation with an elderly chap at the bar, who told us he was ready to make a sharp exit as the nights entertainment was about to start. An eighty year old singer and guitarist, so obviously he wasn't a fan.
We asked the Polish barman for a taste of the Silk's Brewery Old Man Shirv, which had gone and was undrinkable. The young chap poured some more, necked it down and replied that it was in top condition.
