Definitely falls into the category of 'deceptively large' with a small terraced exterior leading through to a long series of rooms and a small patio garden behind. A Greene King house in the usual greys and greens, with a fair amount of bare brick, but still manages a nice laid-back feel and it has a better than average selection of ales with IPA and a seasonal from GK, Old Father Thames from Windsor & Eton and Crafty One from Crafty of Dunsfold. Personally I preferred it to its larger riverside neighbour. Note parking generally difficult in the area and there is a disabled entrance on Broom Road.

Situated close to Teddington Lock and the footbridge over the River Thames from the Surrey side is The Tide End Cottage, a pub with something of a country pub feel to it.
A smallish frontage leads into a traditional, comfortably furnished and carpeted bar area which extends further back into a wider and larger food area and a smallish outside patio at the back. There’s a clear food emphasis throughout, although a few locals appear to frequent the front area.
The walls are mainly decorated with photos and prints of nearby Teddington Lock and the river, from which we learn that the Thames is tidal only down as far as Teddington – hence the pub name. Unfortunately, there’s no riverside views from anywhere on the premises.
An old clapboard reminds us that Teddington Film Studios is close at hand in Broom Road, but, disappointingly, there’s no related film memorabilia.
In overall terms, it’s a pleasant and comfortable interior in that rather featureless generic style that is so often encountered nowadays. It’s certainly larger inside than we would expect from the small cottage style frontage. It’s clear that the establishment has set its stall out to attract and cater for the hordes of visitors in summer to the lock and the river nearby.
It’s a Greene King pub, which, on my recent visit was serving IPA, Speckled Hen and Abbott. The IPA, at a rather cheapish price of £ 2.80p – was reasonable. I didn’t see anything to suggest that any guest beers were ever on.
This is a pleasant enough pub and, if you’re walking or cycling down the towpath on the other side of the river, you might want to consider popping over the bridge and calling in.

Dropped by during a walk along the Thames Path. A pleasant enough spot late afternoon with just a handful of customers. Fairly dark inside, a number of small alcoves off the main bar area, some have nautical items, pictures, maps and the like. I was a bit concerned having seen the GK sign, but in addition to IPA , Olde Trip and Ruddles County, there were also guests Bath Ales Gem and Hydes Jekylls Gold. The Gem was in good condition. The pub sign at the front depicts a scene from Dunkirk in 1940. Outside seating to the front is non smoking, smokers are catered for in an area at the back. A bridge crosses the river at the end of the lane.
