The Anglers is one of a couple of pubs next to Teddington Lock. I visited the Tide End Cottage back in 2019 as part of a crawl of Teddington pubs, but rejected this one. However, this Fuller's pub now appears in the 2025 Good Beer Guide. So, I returned on a Sunday morning to give it a try.
There is a tight car park at the front with the pub seat back from the road to the rear of the car park. The main part of the pub has two or three rooms, including a conservatory dining room to the rear. The main bar area has a long bar with a space off to the left having plenty of books on shelves. There are wooden floors. A fireplace contained some pot plants. To the extremes, a number of other rooms are available for hire.
There are 4 handpulls. Fuller's London Pride & Dark Star Hophead are the regular beers. A guest beer was Fuller's/Five Points Cobbled Lane, with the 4th handpull unclipped. Keg beers included Brixton Reliance, Beavertown Neck Oil & Gamma Ray, Jubel Beer Cut With Peach, Big Drop Paradiso Citra, Siren Lumina & The Park Gallows. The cider was Cornish Orchards. My Lumina set me back £3.85 for a half. London prices never cease to amaze me! The bar also had a fridge full of wines.
Most people on a Sunday morning were in for coffees and breakfast, probably breaking up a walk along the Thames. Cakes, muffins and pains au chocolate were being sold from tubs on the bar. There were plenty of kids, with papers and pens available for them to draw with. A canine menu would suggest that dogs are also welcome. Human menus could be found on each table, along with condiments.
As a pub, this place didn't do it for me. There are plenty of other Fuller's outlets I would choose over this one, if I wanted to drink their beer. It is more of use as a pitstop for walkers along the Thames Path and I would imagine it gets most of its business in the warmer summer months.

It's a pub, Jim, but not as we know it. Much extended riverside venue which is one step above a family dining pub, although mainly catering for same. A modern glass conservatory and other outbuildings have been added, while the table-filled garden disappears off towards the river, which presumably is still there somewhere. The interior is also heavily tabled, with a bar somewhere in the middle dispensing London Pride, Red Fox, Gales HSB and Dark Star Revelation, this being an Asahi - sorry, Fullers pub. Probably better at quieter times but heaving on a Sunday afternoon.

This pub certainly takes advantage of its enviable location right on Teddington Lock and at the end of the footbridge over the river and lock. The garden (if the word covers it) is absolutely enormous and on a fine late June day tables were at a premium. Split into various areas, including "The Beach" as well as table tennis and also a childrens' play area, I have to say it was very well presented, tidy and efficiently managed going so far as to have smoking and non-smoking areas, a genuine plus when so many pubs' outdoor areas are now basically al-fresco smoking sections.
Inside the pub is tidy and has the fresh look of a recent makeover. There are separate small areas such as "The Library" each with an individual style. The aforementioned area has a full wall diamond pigeon hole bookcase with second hand books free for a charity donation. A front area has TV and film memorabilia such as film cans, lighting rigs and stills from the various shows and comedies that were filmed at the former Teddington Studios which stood nearby. An upstairs function room is "The Reel Room". There are a couple of maps of the River Thames on the wall and across a brick chimney breast and an area has wall mounted oars and other boating equipment. I spotted a couple of stuffed fish in cases.
Food is a major part of the operation and a conservatory and a further side area were set for dining however people were mostly eating informally elsewhere and outdoors. The beers were Pride, Dark Star Revelation plus American Pale Ale and Castle Rock Songbird. No sign of any of the other regular Fullers beers on cask. An ok spot especially when the sun is shining.
