This is being sold to Nandos. It doesn't appear on either of the two closure lists from last year. It's last day open is Sunday 28th February. This makes Stanmore a pub free zone as the Sahara Lounge is a restaurant.
Visit August 2013
This is a typical early nineties (1993) Spoons consisting of a shop conversion at the bottom of a small block of offices. You could guess the pedigree by the Moon in the name, it's a long narrow and uninspiring place, but it does have a dart board.
I counted eleven handpumps in here. Of these three were taken up by the two usual GK beers, Rebellion Smuggler doubled up, Adnam's Explorer and Gunhill (uninvited guests) and Rebellion Blonde. Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger and Sambrook's Wandle were available soon.
I went for the Rebellion Blonde which was not in good condition. I have to say that on the day this place was fairly poor.

This thin L-shaped Wetherpoons has booths lining the very long side wall that stretches to the rear of the pub and more tables are crammed in wherever possible. The usual drinks and food promotion advertisements can be found on the walls and tables and there are twelve hand pumps which were dispensing up to eight guests ales/ciders along with some Spoons favourites.
There is a plasma screen which was showing a muted news feed and some posters had been put up advertising the fact that the World Cup, which is on terrestrial television, will be shown.
I thought that the staff were pleasant enough, but there was nothing here to make this place stand out from any other JDW establishments.

Visited just after the beer festival had finished so not many real ales on but the pub was clean and comfortable.
