Strongers . left this review about The Duke Of Wellington
I see that the Duke of Wellington has closed its doors for good now so I thought I’d add a little comment as I used this pub a few times in the nineties as I used to live in Hounslow West.
The last time I ventured into this pub was on a very cold January evening in 1996 after making my way back from Griffin Park after one goal to the good separated us from Wycombe Wanderers. Unbeknown to me the match was on Sky Sports and my mate who had decided to give the game a miss was very smug and cosy at the bar after watching the game in relative comfort. There were often a few dodgy characters in attendance, but this part of London was never the most hospitable. If there was any ale, which I doubt, it would have been abundant throughout England. Cheap pub grub was available back then and if I was to have given a score I would have gone for 5/10.
