The Pheasant Inn is a strictly over 18s pub that had a bouncer on the door during a recent Thursday evening visit, which I found odd because it wasn’t busy and most people were eating dinner. The front entrance is no longer used, so access is from the left where one has to walk past permanent tents that have been set up down the left-hand side between the pub and its car park. The interior is U-shaped with seating on wooden flooring up the right behind the L-shaped serving counter that faces seating on flagstone either side of the unused front entrance and up the longer wooden floored left-hand side. Premium keg options were available alongside Carling and Alpacalypse, and the two hand pumps that were drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar and Sea Fury. The two barmaids were having a laugh behind the bar, but when one of them had finished her shift and went home the atmosphere dropped to zero. I’m sure there’s a better atmosphere where there’s live music, but I was informed that it can get a bit lively, hence the bouncer.

Still a good pub with beers unchanged. Wonderful food splendidly and promptly served. So good that we (a party of 4)visited outbound to Rome on Sunday eve 29th May and homebound on Friday eve 3rd June. I doubt there is better nearby.

A fine old pub serving London Pride, Old Speckled Hen, Greene King IPA and various 'gassed' beers and lagers.Traditional pub food and a superb, full service, seperate restaurant.(see website for menus) Can be very busy.
