A slightly messed-about-with 1930s pub but retaining enough original features to be interesting, not to mention crying out to be nicely restored. Heavy wood doors and panelling, brick fireplaces and some arts & crafts ironmongery survive amongst the modern additions. It more or less retains the 3 bar layout, with two partly joined together and the third holding two pool tables, while a big screen showed sports. The pair of handpumps boasted a Courage Best clip, but the bemused barmaid, eventually realising what I was asking for, said they didn't have it, leaving a few crap lagers, fruit ciders or Guinness. At least the latter was on good form. Lots of unrealised potential but not worth seeking out.
