The Jolly Butchers is a McMullen's pub a little way to the north of Enfield town centre. My last stop of the night and the final London pub I needed to tick off in the 2025 Good Beer Guide!
The pub has one large carpeted room with lots of TVs, all showing American Football. Sky & TNT Sports are shown. There is flock wallpaper all around and one wall features pop and rock posters from the likes of Led Zeppelin, Blur, the Beatles, Elvis Costello, Pink Floyd, the Specials & Queen. There is a brick fireplace near the front left, as well as a games machine. Furniture was mismatched and there is a dartboard to the front right. Music was playing quite loud, as all the TVs were on mute.
At the bar, there are 4 handpulls - 2 were clipped with Country Bitter and 1 with the AK Mild. The 4th was unclipped. Pick of the keg options was Rivertown SIPA. At £2.25 for a half, I knew I'd found a place that was much more of a locals' pub, not one of the hipster pubs I seemed to have been frequenting all day long. It made a refreshing change. Although, I could still have purchased a Jagerbomb for £4.50, or even 4 for £12.50, if I'd been feeling extravagant.

A substantial Mc Mullens tied house,it's essentially a large open plan room but divided by columns and has a traditional feel with lots of wood panelling, carpeted throughout, large mirrors and a long bar at the rear of the room. What catches your attention however are the number of flatscreen together with a large drop down screening the horse racing on the left hand wall.On the opposite wall there is a darts board with a good throw.
It's a locals boozer although corporate 2 for 1 food is offered.
The ale selection was Mac's AK,Country and their Rivertown Brewing Hades (too warm).Live music at weekends,Sky and BT Sports this serves it's local community well but I found it all rather dull.My departure drew a comment from a regular that was none too polite ,so despite a friendly welcome from the barmaid, strangers are noted with some suspicion.

This is still a McMullen's pub, and the interior still seems to be as described by the previous reviewer. It's actually quite traditional, with a carpeted floor, normal tables and chairs - plus fruit machines and TVs of course, a dartboard with attendant silverware on a shelf above it, and a table football game. But the most striking feature of this pub is the exterior, with the frieze at the top of the first floor showing its name in jaunty script on the left, with a more bacchanalian scene on the right. It's very impressive.
The beers on were all from McMullens, with AK (£3.50 a pint), Cask, Country, and Royale (£3.60 a pint) all on. I didn't see any sign of food, although the sign outside said "traditional food served daily". This is a straightforward locals' pub, with no airs or graces, and which hasn't been refurbished to death. There was a good crowd in on early Friday evening, and it's good to see a pub like this thriving.
