I can't remember the last time I was in this traditional Thwaite's pub. There is a lounge to the left with bare boards and some carpet with a chequerboard tiled skirt around the bar. 3 small steps lead to a raised area with a TV at the rear. The bar is on the right-hand side and this also has a raised section at the far right-hand end of the pub. The two raised areas connect to each other along a carpeted corridor lined with pictures of the local area. The corridor also leads to the toilets.

A digital screen in the bar lists the available beers through the Real Ale Finder app. Beers are spread across handpulls in both the bar and lounge. So, check both sides or the digital list. Thwaite's Original, IPA & Gold are the regular cask ales. Their Irish Stout was also on, alongside Salopian Shropshire Gold & Brimstage New Zealand Pale. The cider was Weston's Rosie's Pig and they also had the local Bevvie Across The Mersey from Glen Affric on keg.

Dogs and children were present during my visit. Music was being played at a sensible volume and live music events are also hosted, along with a quiz night on a Sunday.

I wasn't overly impressed by my Irish Stout but this is a nice, traditional pub and at least they serve a few guest beers and a cider to supplement the Thwaite's range.

A really nice traditional village pub with a bar and lounge layout. it still feels relatively unspoilt and traditional with no music and the TVs showing only the beer range. 6 ales including Thwaites plus guests, nothing too unusual but a good selection. Worth a look for sure, it seems like a classic local.

A well run Thwaites house with three regular Thwaites beers and one guest from Thwaites on my visit, so I went for the guest Thwaites Hop to It. The pub is well supported by the locals and the layout consists of a central island bar. The interior consisted of a lounge side on the left hand side and bar area with connecting small front room on the right. The bar was painted black and had an oak counter and a leaded glass pot shelf above. The woodwork throughout the pub was painted in a mushroom colour and the floor in the bar was tiled, with red and black tiles.
