Lovely traditional pub with a delightful snug to the right, with its own serving hatch, and the main bar straight ahead which I imagine has been opened up at some time. The bar counter on the right on entering is made of stained wood panelling, with brass hooks and foot rail, and four hand pumps. An interesting selection (see photo) and a display of four more pump clips on the wall shows which equally eclectic beers are coming next. I went for a half each of the beers that didn't have "plum pudding" in the name, and got three pale to golden beers averaging NBSS 3.33, with the Purple Moose the best, an NBSS 4 delight, and the Black Sheep would have been 3.75 if that was allowed. The walls are covered with photos of fishermen and lifeboatmen, and one ceiling is made up of several etched panels (a little hard to read if your neck is at all stiff), on the subject of the history of the pub and the area, a legacy of a former publican. Definitely worth a visit, a half hour train ride from Liverpool Central.

A very much traditional almost 70's pub interior, pub carpet, seating & tables, seen everywhere, the difference here being there seems to be a lot of pride in the pub and the beer was well looked after

Lovely pub off main drag. Real ale available and though its not the most inspired choice of nationals the pub is friendly and cosy. 2 rooms with the smaller room to your right as you enter. In the main room look up to see an interesting etched mirror ceiling.
