Shenanigans is a thin bare boarded late night Irish bar with banquettes at the front and high tables up the right, opposite the serving counter up the left, to more high tables and a dartboard at the rear. The barman was polite, but unsurprisingly only standard and premium keg products were available. There was some background music playing during my recent Monday evening visit, but it was very slow and draining, so after noting a fireplace with a bicycle leant against it, which accompanied a bicycle hanging from the ceiling, and some other hanging stuff such as old speakers I decided to knock back my half lager and leave the barman and the few angry locals to it.

A small and dark Irish pub that was hosting a quiz night during my visit, so it was packed. The quiz seemed very easy to me, but several of the teams were struggling. No real ale of course, so I had a half of fizz. It's not for me.

a great little pub that looks wonderful and inviting, inside and out. many of the Oirish boozers in Liverpool are tacky and tedious but this is a pleasing exception. the beer is fine despite the lack of real ale and it draws a vibrant younger crowd. Pogues were playing on this visit, but of course. it’s well worth a visit if you can bring yourself to put your Good Beer Guide down.
