Closed. Yep, you've guessed it. Its changed yet again. Now an off-licence.
19/6/19:
Has changed yet again. This now occupies (again) the former Tesoro part so it and the cellar part are back to being the same thing. It used to be Roots, then wasn't and now is. Confused? So am I!
16/5/19:
Is now confined to just a cellar now as the ground floor is now an Italian cafe bar called Tesoro.
2/2/17:
Has been reopened as Roots Bar for a while now. No real ale. An Afro- Caribbean flavour to it. Its a long thin room with the servery to the front with restaurant bit connected to it.

is still open as 'Roots Bar'. when I visited I found it a bit dark and strange and to be honest felt entirely out of place. appears popular with the local African and Caribbean communities and I suspect it gets very loud later on judging by the various events advertised. If you come here for a pub experience you could create a better one in your house or hotel room, just don't bother.

Surprise surprise its closed. But its next reincarnation is going to be called Roots Bar. Ah well I'll be back in 6-12 months to tell you what its probably changed its name to then.
