In the 'business' area of town and therefore frequented by office types during the week. The bars on the window and the below ground level bar make it seem like a prison. A bit of a dump inside to be honest. Real ale is available.

Just below pavement level in a non descript business street although the Albany building opposite has some merit. Made up of one long room on two levels with the long counter at low level and seating areas of benches, chairs and small tables at a slightly higher level. From here you can look out the big clear windows at the occasional passer by. Standard pubby décor of dark wood, mirrored pillars and big brass rails, including a proper foot rail on the bar counter, a few pictures brighten up the walls but it has a rather faded air. There are big and small screens at one end of the room, which is lit by small spots and lamps with Tiffany shades. Several groups of keg founts along the bar serving nothing of note although there was a mild, there are also three pulls with Worthington Cask and a very tired Reverend James on sale. Service was a bit hit and miss as well, at least it was a quiet early evening, it may well be busier at lunchtime with office trade and people from the nearby Exchange and offices.
