huge Greene King landmark pub that has been painted in a trendy blue and extensively refurbished inside. Loads of different areas inside and out with different styles; there’s even a “remote working” table with phone charging sockets down the middle, station waiting room style. It’s an obvious trendy rebrand to appeal to the affluent locals, I quite liked it though and the young staff were very friendly. Three real ales, unfortunately the GK seasonal King Mango was on its way to becoming King Vinegar, I didn’t get much change out of £5 either. So: bad expensive beer, and from what I overheard at the bar, half the menu items unavailable. How would you justify coming here rather than Spoons?

Blue Scrumpy left this review about Cross House Inn
Large Greene King pub on a busy double roundabout in Formby. There are numerous handpulls spread along the lengthy bar counter with up to 11 ales stocked. Greene King IPA is a regular. Others on my visit were limited to Greene King Abbot, Morland Old Speckled Hen & Timothy Taylor Landlord. There is no real cider. Whilst a CAMRA discount is offered, none of the ales appealed to me.
The interior consists of a number of different rooms. A few were having lunch, whilst others seemed to be there simply for a get together.
Seems to have gone downhill substantially since the last review, especially in terms of its ale selection.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Cross House Inn
This is a large stand alone pub situated on a small roundabout on your approach into Formby. The pub has a main front entrance and also an elaborate side entrance. The pub consists of three front connecting lounges and a side dining room. The L shaped bar area runs along the back wall and is finished in a dark stained timber and had one solitary barstool at the front, which was quite bizarre. This GK pub had a choice of seven guest ales on my visit, so I went for the George Wright 4 Calling Birds, which was in good nick. The pub also promotes regular guest beers from local breweries such as, Peerless, Rock the Boat, Burscough, Parker, L,pool Organic and Red Star.
