Attractive Holts pub with several rooms. Three hand pumps, two with Holts Bitter pump clips, but it was from the third, unclipped pump that my pint of bitter was poured. I asked for a top up when it was 2cm short, and the landlord blamed one of his regulars for asking for a big head on his beer. Whose pint was this, anyway? After this palaver, it was not the best pint of this excellent beer I've ever had, but still pretty good (NBSS 3, £3.65/pint). I didn't come all the way to Prestwich for just this pub, but I was glad I called in anyway.

The bar of the White Horse faces the entrance across a tiled central area. The three hand pumps were all drawing the same Holts beer and the three Holts lagers were also available from the friendly bar staff. Seating is found in all three rooms that surround the central bar area, and the front left room has a pool table. There are at least three plasma screens for showing live sports. During my recent Saturday night visit there was a Northern Soul disco with glitter ball in the right-hand seating area. Out the front are eight picnic tables between the pub and Prestwich’s main street.
My duration in the pub gave me some insight into a proper local’s night out in Manchester and I really enjoyed it. Next time I am staying in the local Premier Inn I will be sure to visit here again.

A three-roomed Holts pub. A pool room is to your left as you enter with another room to the left of that. To the right is the larger room. Holts Bitter was the only real ale available today. Its not too bad a pub and is not a place to avoid if you're in the area.
