The Vulcan’s central entrance opens onto a U-shaped bar with a large central U-shaped bar counter that supports standard and premium keg. Banquette seating runs under the front windows either side of the entrance and also up the right-hand wall to a small stage area at the rear. A pool table and dartboard are located in the left rear corner. During a recent quiet early midweek evening visit there was some background music playing whilst muted women’s football highlights aired via TNT Sports, Sky Sports was also advertised. The heavy advertising of cocktails and shots led me to believe this is a boozer geared more to weekend revellers. The Vulcan Venom seemed quite potent consisting of Vodka, Southern Comfort, Blu w.k.d and orange juice for £6…No thanks. The service was polite, but I think I’ll be leaving this pub to the locals in future.
