Blackthorn _ left this review about The Black Swan
Located slightly away from the centre of Westbury Village and almost in to Stoke Bishop, this is one of a pair of pubs almost next door to each other, both with extensive beer gardens at the rear, and this one having the added benefit of an additional bar in the garden, although the only available options here were Amstell and Inch’s.
Internally it appears as though it may have been recently refurbished, and on the whole they’ve done a good job of it, even if the traditional country inn style that they have gone for does seem a little faux. It’s split across several rooms and has some decent sections of exposed stone and exposed brick walling, as well as elegant blue painted wood panelling and floral wallpaper elsewhere. Several pictures were dotted around the walls, many of a botanical theme, as well as old black and white photographs and a few random objects such as books and a miner’s lamp. A dual aspect brick chimney breast was used as a divider between two of the rooms, although whether the small fire is ever lit, I’m not sure. A couple of screens were showing a sports channel which seemed a little out of place perhaps, but at least the volume was off so this was not too intrusive. All in all it was very inoffensive.
Beers on tap were Wickwar Bob, Otter Bright and Exeter’s Avocet, whilst the ciders were Inch’s Medium Apple, Thatcher’s Gold and Blackthorn.
