The Radclyffe Arms is a large pub with a front serving counter that faces rearwards serving open plan seating areas to the right, rear and left. One of the two hand pumps was in use drawing Wainwright Ruby and a standard and premium keg range was available alongside Neck Oil from the friendly governor. Televisions throughout were airing muted Champions League football via Prime while some background music was supplied via a radio station with adverts. It wasn’t busy, but everyone in the pub was watching the football so I’ve no idea why the pub would pay for Prime and then mute it for a free radio station. Darts can be played in the left rear corner and I spotted a full trophy cabinet, they love a trophy in these parts. I imagine there’s a good atmosphere in here when a big local match is on, but on a quiet midweek evening it’s a bit boring.

The Radclyffe Arms is one of 5 pubs that surround the J.W.Lees Brewery, and is now under new management and open again after undergoing a smart refurbishment. As you walk in the pub the bar is to your immediate left with a well spaced dining area just beyond this. There were 2 cask beers on show on my Monday lunchtime visit and certainly had no complaints with the Hobgoblin.
