Another Holt's pub. This one had quite a nice feel with a door to the left leading to the vault and a short tiled corridor revealing the bar on the left-hand side, another small room just beyond it and a larger lounge to the right-hand side. The corridor continued to the gents and a beer garden.
I joined the 2 other customers in the lounge. The smaller rooms remained empty throughout my visit. The lounge did not possess the character of the other two rooms, but it was fairly cosy with carpet and some nice glazed windows. There were a couple of TVs, only one of which was on, a dartboard and a games machine. Posters advertised a karaoke and disco every Saturday from 8pm. There are also open mic nights every other Tuesday and a quiz night on Monday's.
The solitary cask ale was Holt's Bitter. Bootleg American IPA was on keg. It's listed in the current Good Beer Guide. So, the Bitter must be good, if you enjoy drinking Holt's.

A visit to some of the pubs on Camra's inventory of historic interiors had started in the rain in Gorton, but it was slacking as I approached Swinton on the bus. The Park was considered of some interest at the time of my visit, but a reassessment by Camra's heritage pubs group saw this one de-listed. Well, I liked it anyway. It retains an old layout of individual rooms and it has a lived-in feel to it. What more could you want? Oh yes, it's also friendly and has some very good Holts bitter.
The Park Inn is in brewers tudor style, with a drinking corridor with Holts mild and bitter on the bar, a lounge on the right and a snug further back, plus a door labelled Vaults to the front left. This was where the regulars were congregated, occupying benches covered in red leatherette. It turned out I had sat on someone's bench, but no harm done, I was only here for a quick half and a natter about heritage pubs. My half of bitter was very good (NBSS 3.5) and just £3.20/pint (remember those days?).

Not quite as salubrious as the sister holts pub the white swan, just down the road. The front bar was rowdy with regulars. A sides lounge was more spacious and sedate. Friendly Staff. Holts bitter as good as the White Swan but the Two Hoots was average.
