This pub has been closed for some
years! Since the year 2000 I think.
From the photo (today), just passed Corpus Christi Basilica (itself due to be demolished soon) the soiled over patch represents where it was demolished recently (early September 2007). Today (30th Sept 07) some barrels were removed then the whole thing filled-in and covered with soil. The old Grey Mare is dead!

The Grey Mare was an oldish pub that looked very grim from the outside.
Once inside things did'nt improve that much i had a drink in the bar which was very basic and in need of lots of attention,this pub seemed very rough and i dont think i was that welcome as a stranger to this pub.
The pub was a Burtonwood tied house and there was one real ale on the bar this was Burtonwood bitter and this was a decent drink.
Sadly this is yet another Manchester pub to bite the dust.
