There were a couple of drag queens pulling punters off the passing Canal Street into the Thursday night bingo at the Church, which was raucous and bawdy as one would expect. Tables with bingo themed table cloths run up the right to the stage at the rear where another drag queen was calling the numbers. The furniture looked easy to move so I think this seating area probably doubles up as a dance floor at the weekend. More tables run along the front to the left of the entrance and a U-shaped serving counter sits on the left-hand wall where premium keg is available alongside Fosters. This place isn’t aimed at the likes of me, but I think the décor could do with a spruce up to match the fabulous drag artists.

A well known, possibly notorious, gay bar in the heart of the gay village. The downstairs room is a men only room which can cause a lot of confusion in summer when there is seating outside as the ladies can't go to the bar. One main room, very lively and raucous at weekends and you will see some real sights in here as dresswise anything goes. Lederhosen, no shirt & flip flops anyone? It's a keg only pub now, although it used to sell Lees Bitter. Upstairs is another room apparently, although I've never been up there. Don't go unless you're open minded.
