A famous local landmark as the High Road splits in two but these days a terrible pub. It's been modernised with all character removed, modern fitments, high tables abound and event the tiling around the serveries is faux. There are two sections off Ballards Road and two further sections on the lower High Road side, each with their own servery ,and a massive sports flatscreen in the square room with blue seating booths and a mixing desk. There is a small fireplace in here but little of any other heritage feature survives.
Needless to say no real ale ,so just a half of Neck Oli at £3.50 a rip off.Just keep on walkiung past.

The Tally Ho dates from at least the mid-19th century, probably rebuilt in the ‘20s as a roadhouse joint for Charrington’s, becoming a ‘spoons on 1st May 1991; Sir Spoonalot’s offices once occupied the top floor, the pub probably best known for its name adorning bus numbers, for Tally Ho Corner is a terminus.
This has been a Stonegate pub since 2016 and the interior is a mashup of what’s trying to look like a traditional pub, though modern and done up on the cheap, with a shades of grey and white colour scheme, bright lighting – including an illuminated advertisement board – tiled bar back, games machines, pool, split levels, silent unwatched sport, mixed conventional furniture and not much décor. Customers amounted to an elderly duo, then around four young drinkers swearing their heads off at the bar at the time of my 9.15pm Wednesday visit.
There is cask: Pride and Landlord, £2.50 a half (Dynamic Pricing is employed) and fine, served by a nondescript barman.
Probably better when once a ‘spoons, this is a poor place, the customers being the worst element. Choose Life. Avoid N12. Avoid Finchley.

Rated 3.5.

Rex Rattus left this review about The Tally Ho

They had five real ales on in here - Black Sheep Baa Baa Ale; Hobgoblin; Old Golden Hen; GK Abbot; and Purity Mad Goose (£1.65 a half). There were also three Lilley ciders on - Tropical; Strawberry; and Rhubarb. Assuming they were all really on - WhatPub casts doubt on this. I stuck with the beer of course and the Mad goose was definitely available. The usual Stonegate pubco menu, with all manner of byzantine meal deals was available. I kept it simple and went for the all day breakfast at £6.29.

This is a massive landmark pub in the centre of town. Even the bus stop is named after the pub. Inside it's still split into four distinct drinking and eating areas - there were probably even more in years past judging by the unused doors. I sat in the room on the corner, which is carpeted and furnished entirely with normal tables and chairs, and which also has the access to the garden. The main bar is up a couple of steps, is bare-boarded with loads of tall tables/tall stools - but is where the handpumps can be found. There are two further rooms back down a couple of steps on the High Road side of the pub. When I was in the drinkers were congregating in the main bar area, with anyone eating sitting in one of the other three rooms.

It's a Stonegate pub so the ale choice is never going to be exceptional, but the selection in here is better that any other Stonegate pub I've been in. The all day breakfast at £6.29 looks to be the same as the traditional breakfast available bedfore noon at £4.99. I reckon it's a bit better than the the 'spoons version, although theirs is a bit cheaper.

For a Stonegate pub it's good. As you might expect it was doing a good trade at lunchtime on Wednesday, being the nearest thing to a 'spoons around here. It used to be a 'spoons of course.
