No cask. There are 5 hand pumps on the bar counter, only two of which were clipped but both turned round, tantalisingly (not) offering Doom Bar and London Pride. Keg offering of John Smiths, Guinness, Fosters, Carlsberg, Madri, Cruz, Moretti, Stella, original and dark fruits SB, Amstel, Peroni and Camden Hells.

This now seems to be part of the Craft Union stable. Hard to believe it was released from the Timbo empire grasp at the time of the last review 15 years ago. Surely one of the earliest releases by JDW. The bar counter is on the right-hand wall just inside the entrance and has a chessboard tile skirt with tall stool seating in an otherwise carpeted at the front and boarded at the back venue. There is a studded leather banquette serving a few tables to the left of the entrance and then down a few steps mid venue is the longer part of the venue with regular tables and chairs and the odd banquette along either side to the rear which house, on my visit, a covered pool table. Quite a few TV's showing the racing and tennis, no commentary and a barely audible pop soundtrack. The venue packs in quite a few fruit machines and there were a couple of small tables out the front just off the pavement on what is a reasonably quiet road.

I know it’s no longer a Wetherspoons pub, but it still retains that indefinable JDW look, although it’s a bit grubbier than most ‘spoons. The pub itself is quite a bit bigger than it looks from the outside, with a lowered area at the back with several tables, plus a dartboard. They advertise food at lunchtime, but for some reason they weren’t doing any today. The barmaid was courteous, and apologised for the absence of any food. I didn’t interact with any of the dozen or so customers who were in there at lunchtime, but they all had the look of being in socio-economic Class C. There was a bit of banter around the bar, centring on who was, or should be, barred, and whether swearing was the reason.
There really is nothing special about this place, although it did have four ales on – Courage Best; Bombardier; Hobgoblin; and something that appeared to be a Hobgoblin Hallowe’en special. I have to say that I got a full pint of Hobgoblin; it tasted fine, and was at the fairly reasonable price of £2.30 a pint. Nonetheless, I certainly wouldn’t go out of my to visit here again.

This place is nothing special, like every other Barracuda pub that I have been into. My pint of Bombardier was poured by an inexperienced barman who, when asked to top it up by the barmaid/manageress, wandered off. There are a couple of plasma screens for the showing of Sky Sports and Setanta and there is also a dartboard towards the rear of the pub.

There was a good lively crowd in during my visit and if I lived locally I would probably go in here to watch the football, but other than that I wouldn't bother.
