A proper Irish pub with an authentic feel and some fine features. The mirrors and glazed tiling along the left wall are impressive, the wooden bench seating traditional and to the right of the U shaped bar there is a charming internal snug with just a few small tables and chairs. There is a small stage in the apex of this corner pub, entrance doors are original and the muzak was at a sensible volume and Irish across several genres.I would imagine the live music to be in the same theme. The road signs to Irish destinations dot around the interior and the two Sky flatscreens were at least on mute. There is a small paved beer garden at the right rear, with a back pool room on the rear left.
The welcome was very friendly, naturally no real ale but at least Murphy's besides Guinness with the former acceptable once it had warmed up.No fake oirish here,I enjoyed my visit.

A quite historic pub this, and as resolutely Irish as they come.
The interior is much as described with some modernish wood panelling and floor and bar with a slightly raised area to the front corner. However, there's some fantastic polychromatic Victorian tiling and mirrors. Otherwise it's a bit tatty.
There's a pool table to the rear and a few TVs showing the horse racing.
As you'd expect in a pub catering for Celtic customers, there's no ale and the Irish landlady was accommodating enough but this place held few surprises and I don't envisage a return visit.

The Mother Red cap is a corner pub that is situated at the top end of Holloway Road and close to Archway tube station.
Once inside there is a U shaped room which is bare boarded, there is bench seating to the front with small stools, plus a drinking shelf on the left side which had chairs to sit on.
The TVs were showing rugby and there was a pool table to the rear left.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Worthington Cream Flow, which was a poor drink.
Not a pub to go out of your way to do,but i was on a crawl and trying to do all pubs on Holloway Road.
It seemed friendly enough to me.
