Single hand pump of three dispensing Five Points Best. Keg offering of Camden Hells, Magners, Moretti, Siren Lumina, Guinness, Lock-in Lager from the East London Brewing Co, Neck Oil, Five Points XPA, Pravha, Gamma Ray and Murphy's Irish stout.
An L shaped venue, bare boarded with the bar counter against the rear wall from the middle to right hand side. There is some tall stool seating on the tile skirt along the front of the bar counter occupied by some chaps having a laughter filled conversation with the bar staff on my visit. There are tan leather banquettes in front of the windows opposite the bar counter and to the right thereof serving regular tables with a small dark wooden panelled snug to the right-hand side of and behind the bar counter. A raised seating area to the left of the entrance providing regular tables and chairs and then some lime green studded leather banquettes down the left-hand side of the entrance and beyond the edge of the bar counter. The kitchen serving hatch dispensing Indian food was on the opposite wall to those banquettes. Outside seating around the perimeter of the venue but a bit too cool to try this evening!

This is a mid-19th century pub, but I suspect that it’s a post-World War II rebuild, looking none-too-pleasant on Google, in an area undergoing gentrification, just outside lovely Walthamstow ‘Village’. This Trust Inns (who?) pub reopened about 10 days ago, having undergone a substantial renovation, ditching the Lord, so I expect that the previous reviews bear little relation to what’s on offer.
There are gazebo-like covered structures to the exterior, but the interior is now rather smooth and trendy in a tasteful way: modern bare boarded, teak effect and mirrored modern bar back, white walls, bare brick and low white Anaglypta ceiling, mixed trendy light fittings, conventional furniture with studded fawn banquettes to the periphery, conservatory extension and background mood muzak. At the time of my Saturday 9.20pm visit, customers were mainly young professional types, then a knot of older, more old-school locals, all wearing a look of bemusement which said, “What’s happened to our traditional boozer?”.
Aside from two unused pumps, there was Five Points Best offered, £2.80 a half, served by a smiley, friendly barmaid and in decent nick.
This pub isn’t too bad, but it’s a short walk to the Nags Head.

Tucked away in the back streets ,there has been a modern makeover to this L shaped interior which has some seating booths by the french windows to the garden and a wooden floor throughout, pool table close to the bar.It felt like a locals pub but a karaoke was advertised using the raised stage and the muzak was a shade too loud. Two handpumps with Doom Bar and London Pride (reversed) so nothing to write home about.A bit sterile for me,but maybe the regulars like it.
