A corner pub with a large central bar surrounded by a modernised room, sports tv was competing with bland but loud music and customer babble resulting in no winners. The two hand pumps had a couple from Gun on the go, Scaramanga and Project Babylon, unfortunately the former was in poor condition and I failed to finish it.
In summary I didn't care much for the pub or what is usually a reliable beer.

After a period as a Chinese restaurant it’s nice to have this one back as a pub. Just up the road from Dalston Junction station, it’s now owned and run by the Urban Pub Company. From the outside it is a distinctive pub with clear, clean, anodyne naming that will appeal to the target audience of the pub, most of which if my visit was to go by, we’re not born in the 70’s and thankfully would have never heard of Watneys.
The striped out modern interior is largely dominated by the bar and the main draw here is a decent range of craft keg option although I was pleasantly surprised to find one of the two ale hand pumps badged with what was a decent Gun brewery Zamzama IPA.
CAMRA card carrying members are not the target audience here, but those that are seemed to like it.

When this pub reopened, the proprietor had the vision to reinstate the name by painting it in the classic circa 1970s' Watney's typeface, rendering the pub unique; someone with no respect for heritage whatsoever has idiotically repainted it in an anodyne style.
