No cask. Basic keg offering of Moretti, Fosters, Camden Hells, Guinness, SB original, Aspall, Cruz, Peroni, Neck Oil, Carlsberg, Wingman and Brixton Reliance Pale Ale.

On ground floor this is a small venue on a corner of Shepherds Bush Green. The bar counter is along the back wall opposite the entrance, slightly to the left of centre so there is a walk through on the right-hand side to a snug in the back right-hand corner. There are a few stools at the bar counter in this bare boarded venue and a pool table in the front right-hand corner that was constantly occupied on my early evening visit. Seating at the front was via regular tables and chairs and which morphed into tall tables and stools on the right-hand side between the pool table and the snug. Quite a few TV's showing recording of weekend sporting action sans commentary with a quite quiet middle of the road music soundtrack playing. There was also a dartboard on the left-hand wall in front of the bar counter where someone whipped out their darts and started playing sending their arrows just over their heads of the people just having perched themselves at the regular table almost underneath. There was also a downstairs seating area called the Green Room (signposted by a green neon sign above the stairs) and consisted of a small room well served by leather banquettes around the perimeter serving regular tables, but not in play on my visit, even though the TV's were showing old episodes of the Sweeney. Shut it!

On one corner of Shepherd’s Bush Green, this is a compact little street corner pub that rather surprisingly used to be a branch of JD Wetherspoon. The pub has a single room, fairly open-plan layout with just one large pillar in the centre of the room breaking things up a bit. Large windows down two sides of the room allow plenty of light in, so it’s all nice and bright but doesn’t have a particularly cost spot that felt worth settling down in. The servery is on the rear wall, over to the left and is also broken part-way along by another pillar. The bar counter has an unusual wood, tile and corrugated iron front which catches the eye on approach, as well as a more familiar metal frame gantry and glazed tile bar back. There’s a mix of old wood panels and grey painted sections of wall around the room, all decorated with black and white photos, gig posters from the nearby Shepherd’s Bush Empire, plenty of corporate posters and blackboards and a few decorative ornaments dotted here and there. Lots of TV screens were on, showing live cricket to the sound of a ‘90’s indie soundtrack which chugged away in the background. There’s a snug in the rear right corner with some additional padded bench seating under bare brick walls, but the compact nature of the space means that there is only enough space for a single table. Stairs lead down to something called the Green Room, which I didn’t manage to explore on this occasion.
There were three handpulls in operation when I arrived, dispensing St Austell Tribute, Sharps Doom Bar and Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted. The Tribute was £4.10 for a pint and served up by an efficient, if not exactly very friendly, barmaid. Unfortunately, the beer was in pretty bad condition, so despite planning to stop for a couple of pints, I instead went off to the nearby Brewdog bar instead.
This is a fairly uninteresting pub that let itself down even further by keeping some pretty bad beer. It lacks the character of the neighbouring Defector’s Weld, the beer range of the Brewdog or the cheap prices of the Spoons, making it pretty low on the Shepherd’s Bush Green pub hit list.

Oct 2019 update
The ground floor bar is now in typical Stonegate decor, with a mix of odd bits of building site and tiling, while the downstairs room is in more traditional style but has no bar (and still not often open). Three handpumps promised Sharp's Atlantic, Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted and Doom Bar, but sadly only the latter was on in a less-than-fair condition. Drops a mark until they sort the beer out.

Oct 2017
Once one of the smaller Wetherspoon's shop conversions but now a reasonable Stonegate pub. Usual sort of draught ales on handpump: the Ghost Ship went down fine. Not quite sure what goes on in the downstairs room as it was closed.
