Dating from 1929, this is an absolutely monumental hike from the nearest tube and is yet another pub designed by Thomas Henry Nowell Parr, grade II-listed and on CAMRA’s list of pubs with historic interiors, this being of Regional Importance and if you appreciate pictures of a skirting board abutting a floor, you’re in for a real treat on their website.
There are further photos on the pub’s website, which show a multi-roomed affair with much wood panelling, but sadly now with some smoky blue paint and trendy patterned wallpaper, illuminated by whacky light fittings appointed with filament bulbs. Furniture is conventional, with modern stools to the bar, occupied by customers who were a mixed bunch and simply must have been local, though it wasn’t that busy for a Saturday, so quite why there were empty tables, festooned with plates and glasses is anyone's guess.
The ale choice was disappointing with Pride giving it both barrels, something ‘coming soon’ so a half of Neck Oil it was at £3.45, served by a forgettable barman.
This place is just about ok and I’d use it if I lived locally and could handle Fuller’s beers, but the effort to get here isn’t really worth it; see it and move on.

A large suburban pub with Grade II Listed status and featuring on Camra's inventory, so I was interested to have the chance to see it. Among the preserved features are original windows, fireplaces and wood panelling, though it has evidently been somewhat opened out and the former off licence in the corner is now a sort of snug. When I arrived, it looked like a bomb had hit, though it turned out to be just loads of dirty plates piled up on an area of the counter following what must have been a frantic Sunday lunchtime session. Only two real ales on, though there were numerous hand pumps scattered around the lengthy central bar counter, which is accessible from any part of the pub. Tiny Rebel Cwtch was one, but I have drunk this award winning beer once and do not like it, so that left me with Fullers London Pride, which my note made at time described as "undistinguished" - it would have been quicker to just call it poor. And a blatant rip off at £2.35 for a half. Nice pub, pity about the beer.

This is a Fuller's pub, so there are no surprises on the ale front, with London Pride, Oliver's Island, and Red Fox (£2.10 a half) all on. They clearly do food, but I guess I must have been in too early to see a menu.

This is a 1929 built, Grade II listed pub that's on CAMRA's Regional Inventory of pubs with historic interiors. Although this one's been opened up a bit, a lot of the original features are still present, such as the attractive fielded panelling on the walls, old fireplaces, and a lot of the original partitioning between the various rooms as well as the bar counter. The original layout is fairly clear to see I think, as there are still several distinct drinking areas. Furnishings are traditional tables and chairs. There's a garden at the back, but I didn't explore it.

Although it's been smartened up somewhat by Fuller's, this is still a fine old traditional pub. It was quiet when I was in at midday during the week, but the service was friendly and I got the feeling it would still be a nice pub when it was busier.
