Street corner back road pub with a nice tiled exterior. Inside it is split into two areas, the front room which is effectively the bar plus the larger back room which has a pool table, dartboard and a selection of board games. Boarded floor, beamed ceiling, some stained wood panelling, booth type seating in the front area with stained glass dividers that appeared to be matched or at least modelled on similar on the bar gantry. Tiled fireplaces, decor included some framed cigarette cards of Grand National winners.
A Fuller's house with just two on, Pride of course plus Jack Frost, no ESB sadly. They do food but all I saw advertised were Pieminister pies, they probably have a more varied menu.
It's a nice pub but it was empty on Tuesday until our group of three entered meaning there was no pub atmosphere. Hopefully the post Christmas lull and trade will be better. It is worthy of it, perhaps they should put some ESB on!

Update - July 2015
This is still very much the same unpretentious community local as described by Rex in March 2011 and by me in my original review below. Unfortunately, like a lot of Fullers tenancies seemingly, it's a revolving door as far as licensees are concerned, with at least three different landlords having come and gone since Rex's review. The latest tenants, a likeable hard working Northern couple, left yesterday. The London Pride yesterday was pretty good - £ 3.70p. Like Rex, I do hope this pub keeps going and remains unchanged.
Original review - June 2010
The Duke of York is an unpretentious street corner local in an area that has seen much gentrification and pub "improvements" over the years. It's situated down a side road leading down to the Hogarth roundabout on the south side of Chiswick High Road.
There's 2 interconnecting bars - the larger bar has much wood panelling, exposed ceiling beams, a fine bar counter and, despite the presence of a large pool table, a reasonably spacious feel to it. The front bar is smaller and has a number of seating alcoves separated by some stained glass screening. It's a solid looking 1920's building and the pub is now listed in CAMRA's Inventory of London Heritage Pubs.
Unfortunately, my recent Friday evening visit found the pub virtually deserted. Indeed, on approaching from the direction of the George and Devonshire, I originally drew the conclusion that the pub was not open as the front bar was in total darkness. Entering the side entrance into the larger main bar, I found a pub with barely half a dozen customers and a rather subdued atmosphere.
Previous posters mention the existence of signs about anti-social behaviour and refer to "new owners" who have introduced karaoke. Evidently these new owners have quickly moved on and the Fullers website confirms that the brewery are advertising for new tenants.
My visit found a relief manageress in situ who had to unlock the door to let me out at about 10 pm and, although there were still two other customers remaining, I suspected that she was looking to lock up soon and have an early night.
The London Pride - £ 3.00p - was in good form, but this was a rather depressing visit in all honesty.

This remains the same down to earth pub that it has always been. But chatting to the guv’nor I got the impression that it was not doing so well from a business point of view. He had on Pride and ESB, but said that he was struggling to justify serving two real ales, and this in a traditional longstanding Fuller’s house. The pub itself is very attractive, with a front bar retaining some original (circa 1920) leaded lights both in the bar gantry and panelling separating some drinking booths. The wooden panelling still in place on the walls throughout the pub also looked original, but the guv’nor couldn’t say for sure. The back room contained a pool table, being utilised by a group a lads when I was in late afternoon on Wednesday. I didn’t see any sign of food but I am sure that they do it as some of the tables still had place mats on them. This is an excellent unpretentious pub that I always enjoy visiting, and hope that it stays that way.
