As with the previous reviewer, I re-visited this pub on a Saturday evening after a gap of almost 15 years. The pub has been closed for some of the intermediate time but I vowed to return after meeting the owner at the Ealing Beer Festival in 2024 or possibly 2023.
Situated up a residential back street in South Wimbledon, it will never attract much of a passing trade. However, it's certainly one of London's best real ale pubs.
The interior is a single room but with enough seating. On the evening of our visit, there appeared to be a tap takeover from the Ideal Day brewery in Cornwall. I ordered a couple of their beers, only to find there were 3 ciders I hadn't previously had! Ideal Day beers on were A Good Walk, Country Mile, Darkest Before Dawn & Other Earth. Also on were Squawk Pavo & Downlands Pine Ridge. Whilst we were there, Redemption Victorian Mild was also pulled through. Ciders were Against The Grain Stone's Throw, Duck Chicken Demons of Spills Hill & Easter Hill, All Day Something Good Cider Saison & Little Pomona Table Perry.
Craft beers were not neglected too with Anspach & Hobday London Black, Cloudwater Happy & Max Matters, Beak/Ucho Big Cosm, Beak/Pomona Island Hug, Holy Goat Solar Tomb & Balance New Moon. The beers I tried were both in good condition. Although the saison cider I tried was certainly an acquired taste.
As luck would have it, the owner turned up and we had a quick conversation with him too, recalling our meeting in Ealing. I'm not sure he recalled it though! I must make more of an effort to get back here much sooner next time.

A revisit after almost fifteen years, it was a very good pub back then and possibly even better now and can only echo BF's recommendations below.Beers on my visit were Surrey Hills Shere Drop , Abbeydale Dark Mild, Newbarns Calcutta Pale, Unbarred Benchmark IPA and an excellent Howling Hops Export Porter plus another six or seven available in the garden from the mini beer festival running over the Easter weekend. I stayed longer than planned and will be back more often now.

Round the back of a dodgy looking estate, this is a premier league ale house which should not be missed.A red brick exterior and a modest sized interior with some original windows around the front entrace and more modern etched glass in what looks like an extension. There is a brown tiled fireplace to the left of the bar ,some small high tables opposite then a few round tables before a collection of pine dining style tables to the right. The soundtrack comes from a vinyl turntable with gentle reggae at a modest volume perfect on my early doors visit.
The star of the show is the real ale, great care is taken with conditioning and all pints were coming out near perfect. There is also a selection of 10 indie beers, all very tempting ,unusual styles and a couple of genuine continental lagers. The fridge behind the bar had some superior bottles and cans.
On my visit the ale options were Surry Hills Shere Drop,Good Chemistry Into the Darkness,Otherworld Tinderbox 80/- and an outstanding Elusive Riverwood (NBSS 5).A great mix of styles .Three other handpumps stood unused, two with clips reversed.
I was deeply impressed with the offering,a great boozer which will get a lot more custom from me in future.
