The Alexandra, Wimbledon, SW19

This is a late 19th century pub which I suspect may have been rebuilt in the 1920s.
I’m not sure how the older reviews compare, as I suspect that the cold hand of Young’s may have caressed this place in more recent times, but there are three distinct drinking areas, a carpeted front with bare boards to the rear, a grey colour scheme to the front, panelled or bare brick to the rear with a mix of traditional furniture or sea green booth-style banquettes. A mass of TVs were showing rugby played by teams with unfathomable initialisms, a few eclectic prints complete the ensemble, customers being mixed age locals including an Orthodox Jew and Pete Postlethwaite lookalike, who barged in and sat with me at my table.
A predictable ale lineup proffered London Original, Special and Hophead at £6.40 a pint, in decent nick and served by a nice barman.
Certainly better than the Prince of Wales, as Rex mentions, this place is ok for a pint if you’re in Wimbledon but it’s nothing special; but the prices will make you either laugh or cry; pubs in far more affluent Wimbledon ‘Village’ charge less than this.
