No cask and not been here for some time it seems. Keg range unexciting and comprised Brixton Reliance Pale Ale, Guinness, Cruz, a flavoured cider from Orchard Thieves, Moretti, Madri, Heineken, Fosters, regular SB.

There is a seating area out the front with old style picnic benches and umbrellas. Inside, a long bar counter on the back wall of a narrow venue. Wood panelled with a TV on the wall to the right of the bar before it curves round into a wood panelled room with a pool table and another screen on the wall. There is a small collection of round tables in front of this end of the bar also and a token dart board on the wall in the corner that could only be used if these tables were cleared for the action. Some tables face the bar around the entrance area. The left-hand end of the long venue had a leather banquette that followed the inside wall with tall round tables and tall stools around. A projector screen hung at an awkward angle from the ceding at this end of the bar that presented lots of blind spots for following the big game at this side of the venue. Floor was bare boarded throughout apart from the odd rug around some of the tables. There is a paved and gravelled beer garden out the back. Whilst this was an OK venue for a once only visit the lack of decent beer options precluded any semblance of a higher rating than below average.

An imposing three sided interwar years pub in a prominent location at a road junction on the busy Mitcham Road, the exterior signage descibes libations available at the Mitre Hotel but these days the pub has the silly name of The Long Room. And indeed there is a long room inside, more accurately open plan with a rather faded makeover .Originally this would have been a multiroom pub but these days not a trace of grandeur and certainly no real ale from the three handpumps with just boring keg options with the best bet seemingly Brixton Reliance pale, totally forgettable.
Tooting is both muti racial and gentrifying but this pub is the hang out for the white working class,as you might expect from the poor beer selection. The barmaid was friendly enough but had to dry up a large water spill that came through the ceiling after a downpour. The raised benches to the left side were the taget, the right side remained dry but a featureless spot.
It could be so much better with some TLC but the current owners just want to drain their punters cash in one of the few pubs in Tooting where nurses will not be seen.
Avoid.

Originally the Mitre Inn, this dates from the mid-19th century, though I suspect that this has been rebuilt sometime later.
With a function room to the rear and 16 hotel rooms upstairs, this pub isn’t so much long, rather it’s a wide crescent shape. Internally nothing original remains, with a modern boarded floor and a white/cream colour scheme, with mixed seemingly all tall furniture, games machine and umpteen TVs showing the football with the sound off, affording the customer full enjoyment of the banal soundtrack, borrowed from the McDonald’s school of musical entertainment. There are a few framed prints by way of token décor and lighting is modern, with customers seemingly somewhat transient and unimaginative, perhaps residing in the upstairs rooms.
There’s no real ale here, not even pumps, me plumping for a half of Kronenbourg at £2.60, served by a perfunctory barmaid.
This was the worst of my seven-pub mini crawl; the vastly superior Antelope is a hundred yards up the road.

Rated 3.5.
