A fairly typical estate pub, not dissimilar to several others scattered around Milton Keynes in terms of it’s fundamental design. This one perhaps has a nicer setting than some being in it’s own grounds rather than a “local centre”, and offers some outside seating on the patio as well as plenty of grass surrounding it.
Other than that though, it really has little to recommend it. The main bar area is a good sized room with a pool table off to one side. Décor wise it’s all fairly bland with a blue patterned carpet, dark wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and white plasterwork above. One wall of exposed brick had been painted a deep red colour, whilst some of the woodwork was a dark green. In a vague attempt at adding something of local historical interest, a black and white photo showed something described as the old Bradwell fish stall. It looks as though there may have been a separate lounge area on the other side of the pub but I did not investigate this.
A plasma was on the wall and this was showing a football match. A number of punters were spread around much of the pub forming a large semi-circle around the TV which make it somewhat awkward for anyone not wanting to watch it. Most of them seemed to be unable to string a sentence together without using the F-word, and this included not only the guys watching the football but the young “ladies” out on the patio.
The solitary beer on tap was Old Speckled Hen, although there was a second pump on the bar that appeared unused so there may perhaps on occasions be others. The only cider was Strongbow, unfortunately. All in all I can think of little reason to visit here.
