One street down from Electric Avenue, immortalised by Eddie Grant, this pub is situated on legendary Coldharbour Lane, which would seem to date from the late 19th century, to be rebuilt in 1905.
On arrival, I passed three young trendy types leaving, one musing to the others: “That was quite an experience!”. Fascia aside, this isn’t the pub depicted on the website and the beautiful, young customers (models) hugging mutts certainly aren’t. Previous reviews still apply, though I doubt the place has improved; shabby looking, with a cheap wooden planking bar back painted white. It’s bare boarded with more plank chunks to a wall, games machine, mixed furniture, tall at the front, low to the rear and attempting to be trendy, basic artwork to walls. Customers were very much locals and on the older side – with one solitary woman at the bar – seemingly inebriated behaviour rendering the place a bit like a downmarket ‘spoons; indeed, a bit of a nuthouse.
Despite being a GK joint, there’s no cask here, multi-fizz then just a token pseudo craft offering with Neck Oil at £3.15 a half, served in a plastic cup by a taciturn landlady.
If this is what it’s like on a Wednesday at just past 9.00pm, I hate to think what happens on a Friday or Saturday come chucking-out time at 2.00am. This is a dispiriting place with nothing else of interest on Coldharbour Lane.

An old school Greene King pub with no cask ale available and indeed no handpumps, on keg were the usual lagers and od course Guinness, pepped up with the additions of Beavertown,Camden and Brixton pseudo craft.

I reckon that this pub's gone downhill a bit since the previous reviewer's visit. It's unusual for a Greene King pub not to do one of their bogstandard ales like IPA, but this is the second of their pubs in as many weeks not to do a real ale. But they had masses of keg beers available, such as Lagunitas Day Time, Sambrook's London Pale Ale, and Punk IPA. My pint of Camden Hells (£5.05) was served in an odd stumpy glass, but it was Camden Brewery branded. I didn't see any sign of food on Monday afternoon.
As far as I could see, there are only tall tables/tall stools in here, including several large barrels doing duty as tall round tables. There's a small outside terrace at the front - really a smoking area I guess - and more outside seating at the back. I wouldn't call either of them a garden though. The only other thing worthy of note is a DJ booth with speakers surrounding it, so maybe it's used for musical entertainment of some kind. In fact I saw a "bring your own vinyl" sign on one of the walls.
It's all a bit gloomy in here, with the brightest thing being the neon sign behind the servery. In general it's a characterless place with a modern feel. It's not my kind of place at all, but it must appeal to some corner of the market, and good luck to them I say.
