David Walton left this review about Earl of Derby
Oh dear again, really hitting the dregs of drinking in NW6 this evening. This venue was closed when I was last here about 6 weeks ago when I popped into Coopers opposite. It is a large venue, not surprisingly showing the Spurs v City game on big screen. There were few punters in and most of them were not interested in watching the game so wonder why they were here rather than better venues to quaff nearby.
There is a set of 5 hand pumps on the upper level of the bar but I suspect they haven’t needed oiling for some time. A small range of keg beers so an easy choice of another Guinness for me. John Smiths was available and so surely Alan’s choice if not presented with the array of cask options he had on his visit.
This place has definitely seen better days. I would have expected a good crowd in for the footy this evening. Maybe it does OK at the weekend. It is a really nice space but I don’t see the point of it currently.

Visited in February 2010 as the Golden Egg and passed again last night. This is essentially now a rather sad-looking sports bar.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Earl Derby
The Earl Derby is a corner pub that looked quite smart and well kept from the outside.
Once inside there was a large single L shaped room which was on two levels, the lower level had chesterfield settees and funky looking tables and chairs, there was a pinball machine to the front left, the rear area was up a few steps, this area had a few more settees and some tall table sand chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Andwell IPA which went down well, the other beers were St Austell Proper Job,Camden Tontine and Beer Kitchen Orange Peel.
This was a pleasant enough pub with a decent choice of real ales, but i preferred the Betsy Smith just down the road as a pub.
