Lacking any online presence and seemingly dating from 1916, this is now the only pub in NW11, one of the three most Orthodox Jewish enclaves in the UK. The location is mildly bestial: Finchley Road out front, other neighbouring enticements include a Pay & Display car park, car service centre, overhead Underground bridge, bus and Underground depot (there’s a bus stop bang outside) and all 100 yards north of a fairly large gyratory system. The bland interior has been gutted and modernised, with a modern bar back, bar front painted pale grey and along with silent TV, décor including bottles contained in strange wire racks screwed to walls then trendy light fittings from which leaves dangle. Customers were painfully few for a Saturday at 9.45pm and an older bunch, so I suppose the area’s younger crowd evacuate the area for the bright lights of anywhere else.
There’s no cask of course, just a very basic fizz array, so I left; a dowdy place in a glum area.

I never really liked this pub and I dislike it even more now. Fosters, Becks, Stella and Amstel are all on draught along with John Smiths Smooth, Gaymers and Guinness. It has been decked out like some trendy bar so obviously no need for any real ale.
There are three huge plasma screens and I think that sport is shown when it is on, but maybe they could lose the CCTV screen from plain view on the back wall as I'm sure that Golders Green isn't really that bad.
A half a Stella was £1.70, and my change was returned on a silver tray. The barmaid was polite, but I'll not be returning here again in a hurry.
