Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Magpie & Stump

Housed in an anonymous modern block but its site as a pub adjacent to the former Newgate prison claims to date from circa 1550. Irregularly-shaped interior to the Magpie Bar, partly screened and on two slightly different levels. Attractive semi modern furniture and decor with restrained 1930s-style lighting. Signage indicates two more bars downstairs (not visited). Four handpumps on the counter, offering Ghost Ship, Exmoor Fox, The Awakening from Brains and Brewhouse Lemon Grass (£4.95).
