It's hard to imagine that up until about ten years ago, this was a real pub called The Baynard Castle. Well it's certainly not a pub anymore, looking more like some sort of wine bar that might be frequented by second division footballers in an affluent area of Essex or Cheshire; Quinno's not wrong when he describes the upstairs rococo chairs as looking like they'd been upholstered with the contents of Marlene's knicker drawer. Seating on the ground floor has textured stripy material or mushroom brown leatherette low and high chairs with tables of matching heights. The bar back is bathed in purple light with cocktail and spirit bottles. The floor is bare boarded and there's a cream colour scheme illuminated with sconce lights. There's an upstairs mezzanine with at least one pool table. At least one TV was spotted showing sport with the sound off and music was muted. The Thai bar snacks weren't good and out front you endure the aural assault that is the virtual dual carriageway called Queen Victoria Street.
Ales: Sharp's Doom Bar or Hobgoblin. I don't know which I had as my friends were on a mix of the two and they got mixed up, but whichever it was, it was drinkable.
No chance of a return visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Rudds
Modern bar on three levels, and the semi-modern furniture and decor certainly won't be to everybody's taste. Several sports TVs. Just Doom Bar available from a pair of handpumps, and that went off during the pour. However, after a slight wait while another barrel was put on, I got a fresh - if incompletely settled - pint of same (£3.95). Overall, I only went in out of curiousity to see whether it had changed much since its previous incarnation as the Cos Bar (to find that it hadn't) and probably won't return soon.

Strongers . left this review about The Cos Bar
The Cos Bar is a large establishment with a street level bar and mezzanine level that leads up to another large area full of seating that I think is used more for dining as Thai food is served. The zebra and leopard print upholstery is tacky to say the least and I found the service to be lacklustre bordering on rude. I spotted two hand pumps in amongst the standard and premium draught products, but these were both off when I visited two days before Christmas. I spotted at least two plasma screens and although these were off to give way to some background music I did leave with the impression that Sky Sports is shown here.
The toilets are located upstairs and The Cos Bar is closed at the weekends, although it is still available for hire seven days a week.
I cannot envisage a return visit anytime time soon as I like a good proper pub.
