This used to be one of my favourite London pubs. It has however undergone a refurbishment that has changed its atmosphere for the worse. In an effort to bring it up to date the interior has been painted with steam punk murals and strange steam punk lamps festoon the ceiling. Loud piped music interferes with any quiet conversation. Sadly it is now a shadow of its former self and I doubt that I will return.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Bank of England

Imposing former banking hall, famous for its richly-decorated interior. Was still a Fuller's pub last time I visited some 12 years ago, and seemingly little changed apart from the McMullen branding. You can get around all sides of the central bar, and this still has a gantried U-shaped counter. Despite the apparent size of the building, there are relatively few general seating tables at ground-floor level and up on the small mezzanine gallery, but there are several grand dining rooms at the right-hand end and towards the rear, and also a basic courtyard garden at the back. The main brewery's AK and IPA were available from the four handpumps, along with Tide (£7.05) under the Rivertown branding.

First time to visit this fantastic bank conversion, since McMullens bought it off Fullers and I couldn’t see any changes from the Fullers days, except for AK clips where Pride and ESB used to be. AK is not my favourite tipple but I’ll suffer a pint of it for this interior.
