Eye catching green exterior glazed tiling,this pub curves around a side road junction and has small external benches and tables.The inside has two wings either side of the bar,the furniture is all quite dark and a bit aged ,so the interior is less eye catching.A blackboard describes the pub grub ,and the husband and wife team here are decent coves.
The two handpumps stood unused and the keg selection was mundane apart from Siren Soundwave IPA which on ordering I was told had run out,So I had to make do with Beavertown Neck Oil,decent enough in a branded kiddie glass.£3 the half.
This is a proper boozer and at 4pm the builders and other trades began to pitch up,making the small interior quite busy.
Glad it has survive the gentrification,shame no real ale and not really worth a revisit given the dull keg options.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Old Kings Head
Tapered corner pub, retaining more of an old-school boozer character than most in the area. The square central servery leaves a rather awkward layout of irregularly-shaped seating areas on three sides. Mixed furniture and decor, with some potted plants on the window ledges adding a modicum of interest. Just Young's Ordinary (£4.20) available from the pair of handpumps on two sides of the counter.

Well described below, this is indeed a bit tricky to find which is probably why the young hoards haven't invaded it. The original Truman's tiling remains as does a board - painted over - to the rear wall: there are Truman's sign brackets too.
Inside, the bar and bar back seem to be modern. The interior is part carpeted and furniture is largely traditional, the crowd is mixed and the barmaid was extraordinarily friendly. Muted music played whilst Olympic shenanigans could be viewed on two TVs, thankfully with the sound off.
Ales: Sharp's Doom Bar and Truman's Zephyr at £2.00 a half which was on fine form and very cheap for this achingly fashionable enclave.
I'd come here again if in the vicinity as - fairly - traditional boozers are hard to come by in this area, but the place could do with a better choice of ale.
