Many years ago, Sky One aired a programme called 'Britain's Toughest Pubs' of which this pub made an appearance. It was made out to be more of a crap pub than anything else, as the then-landlord showed the camera crew the worst toilets in the country with the rest of the segment concerning the exotic dancers that this establishment is renowned for. So in the interests of PuG research, I paid a revisit after many a year to meet a real ale and dancer-free zone (I wasn't sure which I was most upset by). This oblong-shaped interior is worn and tired inside and is broken up by various supports and brick arches, and although seems to have had some remedial 'improvements' made over the years, they haven't actually added any value to the place. The Gents was inaccessible and I was advised to used the Ladies, which was a first in all my years of pub-going (I didn't sit down though), and the stage to the far right where the strippers used to show their wares is now redundant as upstairs has now been converted into a 'Gentleman's Club', so I missed out on what would have been the only redeeming feature[s]. An early contender for worst pub of the year...
