Bucking Fastard left this review about The Mitre
Substantial pub at a road apex in brewers tudor painted in a dull black and white. This is a gastro pub but room is allocated to folk who just want to drink and some effort has been made to retain a pub atmosphere, for instance a Tuesday quiz and discounted steak night on Thursdays.
The interior is smart, around the front door is where you can pitch down to drink sitting in classy chairs under a high ceiling with a decorative plaster finish,an attractive wooden fireplace and very good leaded exterior windows .
There is a leg to the left with tables set for dining ending in an open kitchen, the bar is central while behind is another set for dining section.Comically four bar stools opposite the front door are also set for dining. The dark wood floor adds character, while the menu is not extortionate with some small dishes under £10,a few mains under £20 although individual dishes can push much further. The menu did look interesting.
At the bar three handpumps with one unused,London Pride reversed leaving just TT Boltmaker NBSS 3 .It's strange that this friendly pub focussed on great food should have such a dull ale policy rather than celebrate this country's brewing heritage. The keg selection was pretty dull too.
Not enough to justify a revisit ,more exciting ale could tip the balance however.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Mitre
Side-street pub, set on a road junction to leave a wedge-shaped building that is understandably reflected in the interior layout too. In the larger portion, this comprises an upmarket lounge area with a semi-traditional look at the front, the bar in the centre and an open dining area at the back. To the left of this, a smaller opened-out room with darker and plainer look stretches back to the kitchen servery. Pride and TT Boltmaker (£6.40) being served from what would no doubt call a trio of handpumps.

Tris C left this review about The Mitre
The Mitre dates from at least the mid-19th century, rebuilt by the neighbouring Swan Brewery in the mid- ‘20s in the brewers’ Tudor style.
On approach, the pub’s exterior is bathed in the glow of a multicoloured lighting system, gradually phasing through the shades of the rainbow, which gives the impression that this is a gay pub. Once inside, it’s clear that the place has undergone a substantial renovation since the previous reviews. Nothing traditional seems to remain, there’s now grey paint and tubular steel, with hipster filament lighting, though some traditional Chesterfield sofas at front, large potted palms and some tall furniture to the rear, with windows out onto the garden, which is like peering out of a fish tank; much of this can be seen on the pub’s website gallery, once you’ve navigated the plethora of burger photos. Customers amounted to two young local women, one with a screaming dog. Thereafter there was a threesome of couples, one bloke was something of a cocky wideboy and delegate from the Tourette’s Society.
The ale choice proffered came in the form of two unused pumps, then just Pride, resulting in a half of Neck Oil at a painful £3.40.
This place could be so much better. Without the boorish and foulmouthed customer, foulmouthed barmaid and foulmouthed dog and decent real ale choice, this could be a reasonable place to stop over, not at present, however.
