In reality a restaurant serving beer, this former pub is on a street corner and has had a very modern and expensive looking refurb. You will be met near the entrance at a lecturn but on asking whether I could just order a beer I was directed to the tables opposite and beyond the bar where drinkers can gather. The exterior tables and a raised section to the right seem just for diners and there is a huge fridge full of cheese by the lecturn.Everywhere dark, polished wood finishing, modern brown glazed tiling yet a terrestrial flatscreen on mute in a picture frame above the drinking tables.
Three handpumps but with just chalk beer names ,the barman couldnt tell be the provenance but turning to Untapped I discovered the choice on my visit was Greene King False Nine (NBSS 2.5,£3.50 half, dull brew),GK Hand & Flower and Rebellion IPA,a typical Tom Kerridge choice of insipid ,low ABV ales for it is he who has branded this place. The kegs options were equally mainstream. The food is meat orientated but whether 380g of Beef Fillet on the Bone is worth £48.5 I will leave others to judge.
All the staff were friendly but I wouldn't return just for an overpriced boring brown beer and no pub atmosphere. It may fit the Chelsea vibe however.

Date of Visit: 1985.
A very traditional backstreet boozer at the time of my visit with two friends, but best known - appropriately enough given the name - as a gays'/trannys' pub where I recall standing at the bar next to a 'woman' who looked like Dame Hilda Bracket. Rumours are that this will return with a completely new interior surrounded by a retained façade.

The Queens Head looks like a proper old school London back street pub.
Once inside the pub still has two separate rooms,i had a drink in a small oblong shaped room to the front which was bare boarded, the seating was pew seats and chairs, there were two TVs on each side of the room showing tennis on mute.
There is a separate lounge to the rear which is smarter than the bar room where i had a drink.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Sharps Atlantic which went down very well, the other beer was Brains Reverend James.
Background music was playing and the pub was very busy on my early Wednesday evening visit.
There are not that many pubs left like this one in this area of London, give it a go.
