Surprisingly large and nicely furnished (very recent – WhatPub says extension and full refurb took place in early 2024) JDW in the upper tier of a classic 80s building, located in the upper concourse and originally opened in 1992. Blue and white tiling, nice Art Deco style lamps along with people watching views via the two outside balconies overlooking the station. There are screens to keep you informed of the train arrivals and departures, always a welcome bonus. Three guest cask on my visit with ELB Cowcatcher a bit fag-end (NBSS 2.5) and close to a fiver. Useful to know it exists and if there’s an excuse to pop in for 15 minutes in future, I likely will. Note that the alcohol licence allows retail sale from 8am and that British Transport police sometimes close the bar when football fans are due through the station. 6.5

This 'spoons is smack bang in the middle of Victoria Station, on what is known as the upper concourse. There's plenty of outside seating on a veranda surrounding the pub, but not so much seating inside. On Friday morning it was too cold outside unless you kept your coat on, and too hot inside. Mrs R said that it was "quite warm" inside, which translates into English as bakingly hot. But some like it hot - or so Marilyn would have us believe.

In most respect this place is like most 'spoons, but I did notice the absence of the all day brunch from the menu, and the prices were a bit on the high side by 'spoons standards, with the traditional breakfast at £5.25 whereas in a suburban 'spoons it would be £3.60. But still good value. Due to its location this one is busy all the time, with no tables available inside the hothouse masquerading as a pub at 11.00 AM.

Having said all that, it's easily the best place for a drink at Victoria Station.

A well run Spoons this one, which on our visit was well staffed and the service was good. We went for the Six Point Brewery from Brooklyn, which was part of the Spoons Festival and I have to say it was a very good beer at £3.46.
