Finally managed to get in here. And there was no ale of course, just keg choices of Kozel, Pilsner Urquell and Peroni and some bottles in the fridge. A companion was buying but I imagine he had to part with a fair wedge of cash for my Urquell. The interior is dull room with a nice Crystal Maze Aztec Zone style beer garden which was much the pleasanter place to imbibe. On overhearing our plans for dinner at Spoons (we’d decided it was a bit pricey for us to eat at the pub, despite the exotic sounding African meats – Kudu, anyone?), the barman(ager?) raced over to the table and offered us a decent sized discount on all the meat dishes. He must have thought we’d demolish plenty of food (we did) so that was a decent experience. As a pub though it isn’t much to write home about, really.

A short walk from the station, this was shut on our Saturday daytime visit and annoyingly there was no indication of its unusual opening times posted anywhere on the exterior; surely this wouldn’t be too much to ask? Unless they only want to attract sausage-inclined clairvoyants. No rating

Formerly the Mason Arms, underwent a restaurant makeover and became The Sausage tree in July of 2007.
It advertises itself as a speciality pub and restaurant, but is definitely more restaurant than pub, although it does allow customers in just for a drink.
This is actually a good thing in that it does have a rather impressive array of bottled and tap beers, primary chrome taps with a good range of foreign lagers although two rebellion brewery ales were on last time I visited.
No surprise that the food menu focuses on sausages , but more exotic choices such as Kangaroo, Buffalo, Ostrich, Wild Boar e.t.c. But other dishes are available and this is another one of those places that utilises hot rocks to allow you to cook your own steaks (or get hot fat splashed all over you in my experience).
The interior is the usual clean gastro pub type décor, plain wood floor , large wood benches and chairs but does have enough going on as far as pictures and stuff is concerned on the walls to give it more of a pub feel than your standard restaurant set up.
